      In 1860, 16-year-old George was living with parents 
      Stephen and Catherine in Iroquois County, Illinois. 
      George served in the 150th Illinois Infantry during the Civil War. 
      In 1869, George moved to Minnesota. 
      In 1870, 27-year-old George was living in Belmont Township, Jackson 
      County, 
      Minnesota.   Although he was living alone, his census entry 
      appears next to the 
      households of his uncle Elijah Benjamin 
      and his cousin Joseph. 
      In 1871, George  married Sarah Eliza Lockwood
      in Jackson County, Minnesota.  Their 
      first child, born in about 1873, was named Theodore.  According to 
      the census, their 
      second child, Cora, was born in Illinois in 1875. 
      In 1880, George was living in Iowa with his wife and two children.
