According to genealogist Wilman Davis, Hiram "Doc" Benjamin played
 the violin, and was considered "shiftless" by his other relatives.

In 1870, Hiram Benjamin is living with his parents, Elijah and Cynthia, in Belmont Township, Jackson County, Minnesota.

In 1880, Hiram and Clara Benjamin are living in Enterprise Township, Jackson County, Minnesota.  They have one son, Roy, living with them.

In 1885, Hiram and Clara Benjamin are living in Thayer County, Nebraska.  They have one son living with them as well as Hiram's mother, Cynthia Lane Benjamin.

In 1910, Hiram and Clara Benjamin are living in the Buckley Precinct of Jefferson County, Nebraska.  They have one son living with them, Harold, age 11. 

Hiram died in 1910; it is assumed that his burial occurred in the Rose Creek Cemetery near Reynolds, Nebraska.

In 1920, Clara Benjamin is living in Los Angeles, California with her 21-year-old son Harold.

In 1930, Clara Benjamin is living in Los Angeles, California, near her son Roy and his family.

Clara Benjamin died December 14, 1934, at the Plaza Hotel in Dallas, Texas.  She was buried in Rose Creek Cemetery near Reynolds, Nebraska.
