Franklin elisted to serve in the Union Army on September
28, 1861.
He served in Company Battery E of the 1st Illinois Light Artillery
Division (a.k.a. "Waterhouse's Battery").
He is believed to have died while fighting in the Civil War in Tennessee
(possibly at the Battle of Shiloh).
In 1870, Phebe's name is Rogers, and she lives in
Martinton Township, Iroquois County, Illinois.
