Some believe the Salindia was
not a Mabee by birth, and she is named
Mabee because she is Pinkney's wife. Stronger evidence indicates she is
Simon's daughter and Pinkney's sister.
The question has been asked: If Salindia was married, then why does
her
stone give her last name as Mabee? Compare her stone to that of
Simon Mabee's wife Katherine, which also
gives her full maiden name.
If Salindia's stone were in better shape, it might show
her married name, Leighty.
Salindia appears on the 1850 census as the wife of Jas. C. Leighdy
in Iroquois County, Illinois; they have five children.
