| Charles and
Sophia came to America from Germany with their children. It is
believed that they lived near the Illinois-Wisconsin border for several years before moving to Otto Township, Kankakee County, Illinois. Other family members came with them from Germany, but the names of most of these relatives have been lost.
Charles's father was Fred Kopke; it is not
known when Letters indicate that Charles had a sister who lived in Roscoe,
