Notes |
|
According to genealogist Wilman Davis, Eliza was known for
assisting Dr. Wesley Mathieu of St. Anne in bringing many babies into this
world. All of Lovina's and most of Leroy's children came into being
in this way. Many know of the Franklins who resided at the first
place west of the home farm (the Benjamin-Davis farm). When Harold
Franklin was a little boy, he had the misfortune of dumping a lye solution
(used in making soap) all over his face and body. His mother carried
him over to Eliza's. She had a new can of linseed oil which she
poured all over Harold. When the doctor arrived, he told her that
she had done well -- probably saved him and his eyes in particular -- but
next time she should use vinegar. |
