living at 402 E. Columbia, as the widow of William.
In 1900, William and Nellie Hoffman are
living in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois; they have one child living with
them, Jennie.
In 1910, Patrick and Carrie Langan are living in Louisville, Jefferson
County, Kentucky.
In 1910, William and Elly Hoffman are living in Sheldon Township,
Iroquois County, Illinois.
Patrick R. Langan died February 5, 1913, in Jefferson County, Kentucky.
After Carrie's death, the Langan and Benjamin families
fought over the Langan estate in the courts.
Carrie's body
is believed to have been interred in the
mausoleum built by her sister, Nell Clark.
After Nell's death, the mausoleum is supposed to have contained five
bodies: Carrie Benjamin Langan,
Sylvia Wadley Smith,
Arthur Clark,
Gertrude Clark Berchier, and
Nellie Clark. In 1991, the deceased in the
mausoleum were
buried in unmarked graves, and today the mausoleum
stands empty.
William Hoffman died January 24, 1917, in Sheldon Township, Iroquois
County, Illinois.
Ella Hoffman died May 29, 1922, in Sheldon Township, Iroquois
County, Illinois.
