Talena died from urimic poisoning after Lute was
born.
Heik’s farmhouse was built in 1917 &1918, the cost
was $10,000.00 to build. They hauled sand in for the plastering the lumber
came from Joyce Lumber Yard in Lewis, Iowa.
Heik was baptized May 29, 1870 and confirmed in a
Lutheran Church in Germany on March 29, 1885.
The German spelling on church records is Heyke. Heik
came to the U.S. around 1889 with his parents, he only spoke in German.
